Jeremy’s Aura represents but one of the musical directions of Jeremy Costa, a Montreal-based artist with a creative background in painting, sound installation, progressive rock, theater, and event production. Combining his passion for both live and electronic music, Jeremy’s Aura has established a reputation in and around the Montreal area and across the globe.

Music played a large role in Jeremy’s life from a very early age. He played in a variety of punk, metal, and progressive rock bands as a guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist throughout his adolescence and into adulthood. Having always been open-minded about music he also nurtured an appreciation for the electronic arts even when playing guitar and singing were his top priorities as a musician.

It was not until 2008, in the midst of his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University, that Jeremy was exposed to electro-acoustic art and contemporary sound installation. He began creating electro-acoustic pieces reminiscent of musique concrète and sound installations in an art gallery setting but soon aspired to apply some of these concepts and techniques in his musical compositions. Combining the root concepts of electro-acoustic sound with his experiences composing progressive rock with a band called Schrödinger Kats he set out to learn and develop a new and stimulating expressive practice: electronic music production. This led to the release of New Circuitry, his electronic debut, in 2012.

Jeremy’s sound is a free-ranging celebration of many diverse musical influences, from Shpongle, Argaman, Globular, Ott, Infected Mushroom, Grouch, Pspiralife and Ekoplex to Devin Townsend, Buckethead, King Crimson, Tool, Frank Zappa, Danny Elfman, Schrödinger Kats, Transcend, Dream Theater, and many more. With an eager exploration of various activation frequencies, tuning modes, and tempo changes, Jeremy’s music playfully shifts from atmospheric ambient and soothing downtempo into progressive psychedelic environments and back again; always moderating experimentalism with a strong sense of musicality that will not be lost on listeners.

His full-length debut, Being and Becoming…, jointly released by Omnitropic and Maia Brasil Records, provides a glimpse of this playful downtempo and ambient exploration with a progressive rock twist. Not long thereafter he followed up with Smörgåsbord, a highly-acclaimed compilation of various artists that smartly situates his work at the vanguard of psychedelic downtempo music.

In 2015 Jeremy produced his third release, Stop What You're Doing and is preparing another compilation for Omnitropic Records.
